Our Story

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, over 190 countries were forced to close down schools and universities, thereby disrupting the traditional teaching model and affecting more than 1.5 billion school-aged children, who represent around 90% of the world’s student population. Students and teachers around the world were expected to continue online, but teachers in remote areas were quickly faced with the facts: 82 percent have no internet access, and around 56 million learners live outside mobile networks.

After researching the problem, Yam Education, Inc. was founded in 2021. The team at the time, designed online educational platforms with offline capabilities. These platforms require little connectivity and students and teachers can collaborate anywhere.

The primary focus has been bringing equitable educational opportunities to students in West Africa: Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya. With Yam’s Pathways Program, students in Africa have the opportunity to pursue an Associate’s Degree with Madison College.

YAM can help you achieve your goals

Upon completion of courses, YAM students earn digital badges and can begin using learned skills immediately within their businesses, industry, and community.

It also opens the door for YAM students to continue their educational pursuits at partner community colleges, allowing them to receive credit for prior learning (CPL) for the classes they took on the YAM platform.

Many of our students who come to study our Academic English course will go to a community college or university in the USA. We offer a clear University or College Pathway Program for such students. In addition to the important skills of the coursework, a Letter of Recommendation from our partnered institutes is accepted as a substitute for a TOEFL or IELTS scores at over 40 universities and colleges. Many of these schools also offer conditional Admissions.

Guaranteed Transfer Program to over 40 colleges and universities, including Madison College. Apply for university or high school at the same time you apply to study at Yam Education. After successful completion of the program, you transfer directly to a university or high school, without taking a TOEFL or IELTS test. This pathway is for undergraduate and graduate-level programs, with some high school programs available.
